Joan Treland has earned two special education degrees — M.A. in Learning Disabilities and B.A. in Social/Emotional Disorders. Additionally, she holds State of Illinois teaching certificates in Learning Disabilities, Social/Emotional Disorders, Elementary, and High School (Special). She has had more than thirty years' experience in testing, teaching, therapeutic remediation, supervision, administration, and counseling. She specializes in working with individuals with dyslexia and other learning disabilities, as well as in motivational and organizational skills, life skills, and attention deficit disorders.
Treland has worked in public schools in both general and special education, directed a private day-care nursery and kindergarten, and cofounded and directed a private school for students with learning disabilities and mild to moderate behavior disorders.
